Kate Oliver has been named the CCIW Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Today's announcement marks the first time in her career that the senior has earned the award from the conference.
Oliver helped lead Wheaton to a pair of CCIW victories last week as the Thunder defeated Augustana at home (last Wednesday) and earned a road win at North Park (last Saturday). Oliver led the Thunder in scoring last week with an average of 16.5 points per game and she also collected a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game.The senior also contributed a team-high 6.0 steals per game and averaged 2.0 blocks and steals each per game.
In last Wednesday's 82-72 victory at home against Augustana, Oliver recorded game highs of 24 points and eight assists. She also gathered nine rebounds with two steals. In Wheaton's 52-39 victory at North Park last Saturday, Oliver tallied nine points with four rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and two steals.
In four seasons with the Thunder, Oliver has scored 1,154 points to rank 13th on the program's all-time scoring list. Her 502 career rebounds is 21st in program history and she also added 214 assists and 146 steals.
Oliver and the Thunder will travel to No. 18 Illinois Wesleyan this Wednesday night for a matchup against the Titans. Wheaton will close out the regular season this Saturday at home as Wheaton host Millikin for Senior Night.
