Thunder track and field teams compete at UChicago's Windy City Rumble

Chicago, Ill. - The Wheaton track and field teams returned to action on Saturday at the "Windy City Rumble" hosted by the University of Chicago. Both Thunder programs finished sixth on Saturday.

The host UChicago Maroons finished first in the women's team standings with 200 points, well ahead of second-place Hope College's 101 points. Augustana finished third with 85 points, Lewis scpred 69 points in fourth place, MSOE finished fifth with 37 points, Wheaton scored 32 points in sixth place and Aurora rounded out the field with 17 points.

Heidi Krekelberg posted a time of 7.87-seconds in the finals of the women's 60-meter dash to place second in the event. Sophomore Sally Elsen finished fifth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.53-seconds, while teammate Hannah Tompkins was seventh in 10.17-seconds.

Elizabeth LaBrin posted a time of 11:03.62 to finish fourth in the women's 3,000-meter run, while Lily Lebo was fifth in 11:07.08. Senior Sadie Richert finished seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.48. Abby Rickard placed sixth women's one-mile run with an effort of 5:28.90, while freshman Clodagh O'Bryant was seventh in 5:30.71.

Junior Grace Crowder led a trio of Thunder competitors that finished in the top-eight of the women's high jump. She placed third with an effort of 1.59-meters (5' 2-1/2"). Tompkins placed sixth with a height of 1.49-meters (4' 10-1/2") and Elsen was eighth with a clearance of 1.44-meters (4' 8-3/4"). Sophomore Allison Roozeboom placed seventh in the women's shot put with a toss of 11.56-meters (37' 11-1/4"). Tompkins placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 4.91-meters (16' 1-1/2").

The Thunder track and field teams resume their indoor season next Friday at Carthage's "Tadd Metzger Invite".

University of Chicago finished first in the men's team standings with 159 points. MSOE placed second with 117.5 points, Hope College scored 92 points in third place, Augustana placed fourth with 74 points, Lewis University finished fifth with 35.5 points, Wheaton scored 34 points in sixth place and Aurora rounded out the field with 24 points in seventh place.

The Thunder men's program had two first place efforts on Saturday as Ty Bova won the men's high jump with an effort of 2.02-meters (6' 7-1/2"). Bova's mark on Saturday is tied for 13th-ranked in Division III so far in the 2026 indoor track & field season. Matthias Everest finished first in a 28-man field in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:58.34, while teammate Drew Swiston finished sixth in 9:15.85. 

Isaac Bledsoe finished second in a 24-man field in the men's long jump. Bledsoe had a leap of 6.69-meters (21' 11-1/2"). Senior Joshua Schuurman placed eighth in the men's pole vault as he cleared a height of 4.10-meters (13' 5-1/4").

Thunder sophomore Zach Torres finished seventh in the finals of the men's 60-meter dash as he posted a time of 7.22-seconds.
