Elmhurst, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder women's basketball team took to the road on Wednesday night for a CCIW match against the Elmhurst University Bluejays (10-8, 6-4 CCIW). The Bluejays utilized a strong first half of play to defeat the Thunder 82-52. Wheaton is now 7-11 on the season and 3-6 in CCIW play as the Thunder travel to Carroll on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff against the Pioneers.
Elmhurst never trailed tonight and their largest lead of the first quarter was the 17-10 score at the end of the opening quarter. The hosts broke the contest open in the second quarter, out-scoring the Thunder 26-6 in the second period. Elmhurst led the Thunder 43-16 at the halftime intermission. The Bluejays shot 64.3% (9-of-14) from the field in the second quarter, including 57.1% (4-for-7) behind the three-point arc. Elmhurst's strong first half helped the Bluejays for the remainder of the game as the hosts earn the regular season sweep of Wheaton.
Kate Oliver led the Thunder with 12 points, two assists and four steals.
Lily Caddow contributed 11 points with three steals.

Petra Trumbach each scored six points for the guests. Trumbach had a team-high five rebounds with three steals for the Thunder.
Natalie Harty led Elmhurst with 21 points and Kristin Bukata scored 19 points with 14 rebounds and nine assists.
Elmhurst shot 50.9% (29-for-57) from the field in the game, including 47.6% (10-for-21) behind the three-point arc. The Thunder posted a 32.2% (19-for-59) field goal percentage tonight, including 25% (5-for-20) from three-point range. Elmhurst shot 77.8% (14-of-18) at the free throw line tonight, while Wheaton shot 56.3% (9-of-16) at the stripe. Elmhurst had a 44-29 edge in rebounding tonight, including a 12-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
