Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton wrestling team hosted Concordia (Wis.) and Carthage on Saturday afternoon for a pair of CCIW dual matches in inside King Arena. Wheaton defeated Concordia (Wis.) 33-21 int he opening match of the afternoon. Carthage defeated the Thunder 36-7 in the day's finale
Wheaton defeated the Concordia Falcons 33-21 in the opening match. The Falcons won the first four matches, including two via forfeit as the guests jumped out to a 21-0 lead. Freshman
Caleb Cox picked up Wheaton's first win as earned a first-period fall against Tyson Skubal at the 2:10 mark of their match at 157-pounds. In the matchup at 165-pounds, Taggart Kazmierczak (PICTURED LEFT) convincingly defeated Hunter Burr just 11 seconds into their match.
Sean King won a 15-2 major decision against Kyle Sorensen in the contest at 174-pounds. Wheaton's
Jacob Kraker won an 18-3 technical fall (7:00) at 184-pounds against Tylan Watts of CUW. Zeke Harris impressed as he scored a fall just 1:29 into his match at 197-pounds against Dawson Galvan.
Alex Copestick was victorious at 285-pounds via a forfeit.
Carthage topped the Thunder 36-7 in Saturday's finale. Kazmierczak defeated Carthage's Max Schmitt in a 16-2 major decision in their matchup at 165-pounds. Copestick defeated Carthage's Chris Gielow in 4-1 decision in overtime of the contest at 285-pounds. The freshman scored a takedown early in the opening of overtime to record the 4-1 win.
Wheaton travels to Elmhurst next Saturday to compete in the Al Hanke Invitational.
