Montgomery, Ill. - The Wheaton women's soccer team picked up its second-consecutive road win to open the 2025 season as the Thunder defeated Aurora University 2-0 on Saturday night. The win improves Wheaton to 2-0 on the season following yesterday's 1-0 victory at Dominican.
Junior
Lily Lindquist converted Wheaton's first goal as she capitalized on a
Grace Crowder assist at the 11:12 mark of the match to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. Wheaton controlled the pace in the first half as the Thunder maintained possession for approximately 68% of the opening half. The Thunder out-shot the Spartans 9-4, including a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded seven corner kicks and the Spartans had two.
Junior
Marissa Davis extended Wheaton's lead to 2-0 when she scored at the 65:52 mark. Davis scored with the help of an
Olivia Martin assist. Davis' goal stood up as Wheaton maintained its 2-0 lead to give the guests the victory. Wheaton out-shot the Spartans 8-0 in the second half, including a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded four corner kicks in the second half, with none for Aurora.

Leah Roe made two saves in recording the shutout over 90 minutes of work. Aurora netminder Melina Cane made six saves, and allowed both goals in her 90 minutes in the net.
For the match, Wheaton out-shot Aurora 17-4, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton had 11 corner kicks in the match, with two for the Spartans.
Wheaton is off until next weekend when the Thunder host the Bob Baptista Invitational. The home opener for the Thunder will be on Friday at 7:00 p.m. against UW-Eau Claire, followed by the tournament finale on Saturday against Trine University.     Â
