The Wheaton baseball program earns an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the eighth-consecutive year

Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College baseball team has been recognized with a Team Academic Excellence Award by The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Head coach Matt Husted's program is among 181 NCAA Division III programs to earn the award, including seven CCIW teams.

The Thunder baseball program posted a 3.24 cumulative team GPA at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year. This is the eighth-consecutive season that Wheaton has received the Team Academic Excellence Award in the nine seasons that the ABCA has given the award out.

To receive an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award programs must meet the following criteria: must be a high school or college team; the head coach must be a current ABCA member; the team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2019-20 academic year and the GPA may not be rounded up.
