Rutledge Feltel earned First Team All-CCIW honors at DH

Rutledge Feltel and Nate Burden earn All-CCIW honors

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2025 All-CCIW Baseball Team on Tuesday afternoon. Two members of the Wheaton baseball team earned All-Conference recognition as senior Rutledge Feltel was named to the All-CCIW First Team, and freshman pitcher Nate Burden was a Second Team selection. 

Feltel earns his first career All-Conference award, picking up the recognition as a designated hitter. The senior leads Wheaton in batting average, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs, total bases and slugging percentage this season. Feltel has a .368 (49-for-133) batting average, with 39 RBI and 21 runs scored this year. He has six home runs, 10 doubles and is tied for the team lead with 22 walks. Feltel is slugging 594 this season and has a .479 on-base percentage.

Wheaton College Baseball vs Elmhurst (2-1)In 20 CCIW games this season, Feltel has hit for a .348 (24-for-69) batting average with 20 RBI and 10 runs scored. He has four home runs and six doubles in conference play, with 10 walks drawn. The senior has a .638 slugging percentage with a .446 on-base percentage in the 20 conference contests.

Burden (PICTURED LEFT) picked up Second Team honors in an outstanding freshman campaign on the mound. Burden is the first Wheaton freshman to earn All-CCIW honors since Mason Diel picked up All-CCIW Second Team honors at DH in 2022, and he is the first freshman pitcher from the program to earn All-Conference honors since Michael Kaufman was named to the All-CCIW First Team in 2013.

Burden has a team-best 3.36 ERA this spring, posting a 4-3 record in 11 starts across 67 innings pitched. Burden is holding opponents to a .233 batting average, with a team-best 73 strikeouts to his credit. In six starts against CCIW foes, Burden has a 1-1 record and a 4.30 ERA in 37-2/3 innings of work. CCIW hitters posted a .217 batting average against the freshman as he recorded 42 strikeouts in league games.

Senior Tim Whitfield (PICTURED RIGHT) is Wheaton's recipient of the RESPECT Award. At the conclusion of every sports season, each varsity program will recognize one student-athlete as their RESPECT Award honoree. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
