Wheaton men's tennis team ends season with CCIW Tournament semifinal matchup

Rock Island, Ill. -- The 2025 season came to an end for the Wheaton men's tennis team this morning, as the Thunder took on North Central College in a CCIW Tournament semifinal on the campus of Augustana College. The nationally-ranked Cardinals won today's contest by a score of 4-0 to seal a spot in their fifth-consecutive CCIW Championship match, marking the third-straight year that the tournament's top seed has defeated Wheaton in the penultimate round. The Thunder's campaign ends with an overall record of 10-10 and a 4-3 mark in league play, continuing a four-year streak of double-digit victories and conference tournament semifinal appearances for the program.

The Naperville squad earned the point from doubles play in this morning's matchup via victories at #1 and #3 doubles. The Cardinals then completed an abbreviated sweep thanks to straight-set wins at #5, #6, and #1 singles. Andrew Jang and Corin Tang were in a good position to potentially secure points from their #3 and #4 singles fixtures, respectively, but the match ended as soon as North Central tallied the four points it needed to secure the win.

With this year's schedule drawing to a close on Friday, Wheaton's players will now enter their offseason routines and begin working towards the 2026 campaign.
