Thunder track and field teams compete at the Chicagoland Championships

Elmhurst, Ill. - Elmhurst University hosted the Chicagoland Championships outdoor track & field meet over the last three days - Editor's Note: Wheaton served as the site of the throwing events for the meet. 

The top event for the Thunder men's program was the 5,000-meter run with three runners in the top-10 among the 53 competitors. Joshua Cross posted a time of 15:16.13 to place second. Sheldon Powel was fourth in the event with a time of 15:17.01 and Josh Steiner was ninth in 15:32:48. Cooper Swain finished 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:34.27. 

Ty Bova cleared a height of 1.94-meters to finish fourth in the men's high jump. Cohen Oberg finished 12th in the same event with a height of 1.81-meters. Quinton Stepps finished sixth in the javelin throw with a heave of 42.54-meters. Jae Young Yu finished 12th in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.16-meters.

The top event for the Wheaton women's program this weekend was the women's 5,000-meters with three competitors finishing in the top-five of the 39-woman event. Sophia Huber finished second with a time of 18:10.67. Sarah Quintanilla posted a time of 18:19.83 in third place and Lily Lebo was fifth in 18:24.40. 

Sophomore Grace Crowder finished third in a 23-woman field in the high jump. Crowder cleared a height of 1.64-meters. Allison Roozeboom finished ninth in the women's shot put with an effort of 11.27-meters. 

Caroline Stetina recorded a time of 10:25.79 to place ninth in the women's 3,000-meter run. Abby Rickard finished 12th in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:53.02

Hannah Harris recorded a time of 1:08.65 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish seventh in the 27-woman field.  

Next Saturday Wheaton hosts the first of two-straight home track meets with the 2025 Wheaton Invitational at McCully Stadium and Lawson Field. The throws begin at 10:30 a.m. at Lawson field with the men's shot put. The men's high jump and, women's pole vault and women's long jump each begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. at McCully Stadium. Running action begins at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 400-meter relay. MEET SCHEDULE
