Elmhurst, Ill. – The Wheaton track and field teams competed at the Elmhurst University Twilight meet on Friday.
In the men's competition, Wheaton finished in the top three spots in the men's 5,000-meters.
Joshua Cross was first in the race with a time of 15:18.72.
Sheldon Powell posted a time of 15:27.72 in second place, and
Luke Bothun placed third in 15:33.12. Senior
Sam Elsen recorded a time of 3:56.93 to place sixth in the 1,500-meter run.
Quinton Stepps finished second in the men's javelin with a toss of 45.39-meters (148' 11"). Joshua Schuurman recorded a height of 3.77-meters (12' 4-1/2") in the pole vault. Senior
Jaden Pankau placed fourth in the men's discus throw with a toss of 42.16-meters (138' 4").
The Wheaton women's program had three first-place effort at Elmhurst. Sophia Huber was a winner in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:52.90. Her teammate, Lily Lebo posted a time of 18:28.10 in fourth place in the same event.
Freshman Allison Roozeboom won the women's shot put with an impressive toss of 11.04-meters (36' 2-3/4"). Sophomore Grace Crowder placed fifth in the women's jump with a height of 1.52-meters (4' 11-3/4").
The Thunder 4X100-meter relay team of Sadie Richert, Hannah Harris, Grace Crowder, and Heidi Krekelberg finished first with a time of 49.55-seconds. Richert finished second in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 59.52-seconds. Harris posted a time of 1:05.66 to finish second in the 400-meter hurdles, just ahead of teammate Sally Elsen in third place at 1:05.73.
The Thunder track and field team compete in the 2025 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships next Friday and Saturday on the campus of North Central College.
