Franklin, Wis. – The Wheaton softball team faced Wisconsin Lutheran College on Tuesday in a makeup of a contest originally scheduled for March. Weather still played an issue in today's event as two lightning delays lengthened game one to four hours and nine minutes as the Thunder won the contest 10-2 in five innings. Wheaton was leading the second game, 4-1 halfway through the fourth inning when the contest was halted due to a time limit at the Rock Sports Complex. The date and time for resuming the second game is to be determined.
Wheaton was a 10-2 victor in five innings in today's first game. The Thunder scored 10 runs, on nine hits, with zero errors and WLC scored two runs, on four hits, committing five errors. Sophomore starting pitcher
Shylah Dozeman (8-6) earned the win in five innings in the circle. She allowed two earned runs, scattered four hits, with three strikeouts and allowed one walk.
Abby Whitehead hit a home run in her third-consecutive game as she was 2-for-3, with six RBI and one run scored.
Olivia Nahorniak was 2-for-3, with three runs scored, a walk and one RBI.
Paige Andrews was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI, while catcher
Livi Figueroa was also 2-for-4, driving in two runs.
Wheaton scored three runs in the top of the first inning as Andrews drove in one run with a RBI-single and Figueroa drove in two runs with a RBI-single down the rightfield line to give the Thunder a 3-0 lead. The game was delayed after the conclusion of the top of the first inning.
The Thunder added two more runs in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 5-0. Wheaton's first run in the second was on a RBI single by Nahorniak, and Whitehead added a sacrifice fly to drive in the second run of the inning. The Warriors scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to trim Wheaton's lead to 5-2.
Whitehead belted a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to extend Wheaton's lead to 8-0. Whitehead capped her stellar effort in the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Thunder an eight-run lead at 10-2. Dozeman got the three outs that Wheaton needed in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game on the run-rule.

Wheaton returns to Wisconsin tomorrow to face Carroll for a CCIW doubleheader in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
