Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton softball team hosted Millikin on Saturday for a CCIW doubleheader at Ruth Leedy Field. The Big Blue won the first game, 10-2 in five innings and Millikin accomplished the sweep with a 9-1 victory in the second game.
Millikin won today's first game, 10-2 as the guests scored 10 runs, on eight hits, with zero errors and Wheaton tallied two runs, on five hits, with two errors. Shyla Dozeman hit a home run for the Thunder, and
Olivia Nahorniak hit a double.

Livi Figueroa each collected a single for the hosts.
Millikin took an early lead with four runs in the top of the first inning. The Big Blue added four runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth inning. Figueroa led off the bottom of the fifth inning for the Thunder with a single. Dozeman followed with a long two-run home run over the leftfield fence to put Wheaton on the scoreboard. Nahorniak added a double in the fifth, but Millikin got out of the inning to win the game 10-2 in five innings on the run-rule.
The Big Blue won the second game 9-1 as the Big Blue scored nine runs, on 11 hits, with zero errors and the Thunder plated one run, on three hits, with two errors.
Paige Andrews collected two of Wheaton's three hits in the game, including a double. Nahorniak added a single for the hosts.
Millikin scored one run in the bottom of the first and added another run in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Andrews led off the top of the fifth inning with a double to left centerfield, and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. She scored on a sacrifice fly by
Rylinn MacDonald. Andrews' run trimmed Millikin's lead to 2-1. The Big Blue responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. Millikin scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to account for the 9-1 final score.
Wheaton returns to Ruth Leedy Field on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Eureka College. The twinbill with the Red Devils begins at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
