Kenosha, Wis. - The Wheaton men's track and field team competed at the 2025 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Carthage College's Tarble Athletic & Recreation Center. The Thunder men finished sixth in the nine team field. North Central's men's program finished first with 198 points, Illinois Wesleyan scored 118 points in second place, Augustana tallied 84.3 points in third place, Millikin placed fourth with 79.3 points, Carthage tallied 77.3 points in fifth place, Wheaton scored 43 points in sixth place, North Pak finished seventh with 24 points, Elmhurst was eighth with 21 points and Carroll placed ninth with 17 points.
SATURDAY RECAP
Sam Elsen posted a time of 4:15.53 to win the men's one-mile run by nearly two seconds. Elsen is now a two-time champion in the event, also winning the one-mile run at the 2023 CCIW Indoor T&F Championships. Joshua Cross finished seventh in the event with a time of 4:22.52.
Thunder junior Cohen Oberg scored 4,274 points in the men two-day men's heptathlon to place second. Oberg had the top effort of the heptathletes in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42-seconds. Sophomore Ben Maher scored 4,129 points in fourth place. Ty Bova cleared a height of 1.96-meters to finish third in the men's high jump.
Senior Gabe Praamsma finished eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.14.
FRIDAY RECAP
The top performance for the Thunder men's program on Friday came from the men's distance medley relay team of Joshua Cross, Bradley Lauber, Gabe Praamsma and Sam Elsen. The quartet posted a time of 10:15.12 to finish in second place, just behind the first-place effort of Augustana that posted a time of 10:09.46.
