Anthony Zamora and
Jackson Punzel each went 2-0 on Friday as they advance to Saturday's semifinal matches in their respective weight classes.
Zamora won both of his matches at 133-pounds to earn a spot in tomorrow's semifinal against No. 2 seed Coby Haney of Millikin. Zamora opened the tournament by earning a fall just 25-seconds into his match against Elmhurst's Joe Fornaro. Zamora's second match of the day was a 9-7 decision over Wabash's James Day, the tournament's No. 2 seed and a 2024 NCAA qualifier.
Punzel also posted a 2-0 record on Friday. His opening day effort in the 197-pound bracket earned him a semifinal match against North Central's Casey Aikman on Saturday morning. Punzel defeated Manchester's Ethan Skinner in a 15-0 technical fall (4:08) to open the tournament. Punzel then advanced to tomorrow's semifinal with a 12-5 decision over John Carroll's Jesse Kanatzar.
