Naperville, Ill. - The Wheaton track and field teams returned to action on Friday evening at North Central College's F. Lee Slick Invitational.
The top performance for the Thunder men was Joshua Cross with a time of 4:22.57. Cross' effort earned him a second-place finish in the 69-man field.
Cohen Oberg posted a time of 8.88-seconds in the prelims of the men's 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the finals with the third-fastest time in the prelims. Oberg registered a time of 8.87-seconds.
The Thunder women's 4X400-meter relay team finished second in a 12-team field to conclude the evening. The foursome of Sally Elsen, Sadie Reichert, Grace Crowder and Hannah Harris posted a time of 4:11.73. Crowder also had a second-place finish in the women's high jump. Her leap of 1.59-meters was the top effort by a Division III competitor in the 25-woman field.
Caroline Stetina was third in the one-mile run with a time of 5:20.48 in the 40-woman field. Freshman Kate Creighton finished fifth in the event with a time of 5:25.36 and Sophia Huber was sixth in 5:28.84. Natalie Fopma was third in the 5,000-meter run in 19:29.34.
Heidi Krekelberg qualified for the finals of the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.95-seconds in the prelims that was eighth in the 34-woman field. She posted a time of 8.02-seconds in the finals to finish fifth in the event.
The Thunder track and field teams are in Kenosha, Wisconsin next weekend for the 2025 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships at Carthage College's Tarble Athletic & Recreation Center.
