Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton women's basketball team (3-6, 0-2 CCIW) hosted Elmhurst (4-2, 2-0 CCIW) on Saturday afternoon in a CCIW matchup in King Arena. The Bluejays pulled away in the second half to earn an 80-53 victory.
Kate Oliver led the Thunder with 21 points and she added two steals.
Lauryn Ham and
Lily Caddow each scored six points for the hosts.
Petra Trumbach had a team-high seven rebounds and
Lydia Brogan added six boards.
Kristin Bukata led Elmhurst with 29 points and eight assists. Natalie Harty tallied 22 points for the guests. Natalie Robinson collected a game-high nine rebounds for the Bluejays.
Wheaton had a 35.4% (17-for-48) field goal percentage, including 20% (4-for-20) behind the three-point arc. Elmhurst had a 50.8% (30-for-59) effort from the field, including 61.1% (11-for18) from three-point range. The Thunder shot 88.2% (15-for-17) at the free throw line and Elmhurst had a 56.3% (9-for-16) effort at the charity stripe.
Wheaton is off until next Saturday when the Thunder travel to Carthage for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff against the Firebirds.
