Boyer's records in the 200-yard IM highlight Friday's action for women's swimming at the Wheaton Invitational

Wheaton, Ill – The Thunder swim teams are hosting the 2025 Wheaton Invitational in Lederhouse Natatorium this weekend. Following Friday's finals, the Wheaton women's program is second in a seven-team field, while the Thunder men are third out of seven teams.

Grove City leads the way in the women's standings after Friday's action. The Wolverines are first with 515 points, followed by Wheaton in second place with 381 points, Olivet Nazarene has 261 points in third place, UW-Stevens Point is fourth with 257 points, Illinois Wesleyan is fifth with 112 points, Loras is sixth with 95 points and Millikin recorded 23 points in seventh place.

All-American Tess Boyer highlighted the effort for the Thunder women's program on Friday as she set new records in the women's 200-yard IM. She had the top time in the prelims of the event with an effort of 2:08.83 that established new school, meet and pool records in the event. She bested her time in prelims, breaking the records just hours later. She finished first in the finals with a time of 2:03.72 that is eighth-fastest in Division III this year and is a strong qualifying time for Nationals in March. Boyer's winning time in the finals was more than eight seconds faster than the second-place time of 2:11.83.

Boyer also won the 200-yard butterfly on Friday. She qualified for the finals with a time of 2:06.29 in the prelims, fastest effort in the event. She won the finals with a first-place effort of 2:07.28. Kara Grace Hess was fifth in the finals of the same event with a time of 2:17.50 and Madi Emmitt was eighth with a time of 2:26.99.

Three Thunder swimmers competed in the finals of the women's 200-yard backstroke. Senior Olivia Wiebe won the event in 2:10.53. Kate Zurowski was fourth in 2:12.83 and Savannah Jeffery was eighth in 2:16.11.

Freshman Allison Henschel won the women's 500-yard freestyle with a first-place time of 5:10.68 in the finals. Sophomore Aubrey Swanson finished second in the finals of the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.60-seconds. Freshman Lydia Hansen posted a time of 1:10.08 in the finals of the 100-yard breasstroke in third place and Louise Adams placed sixth in 1:12.09.

Wheaton won a pair of relay events on Friday. The women's 200-yard freestyle relay of Swanson, Rebecca Darter, Jeffery and Boyer finished first with a time of 1:38.14. The 400-yard medley relay of Jeffery, Hansen, Boyer and Swanson posted a first-place time of 3:58.62.

Swimming resumes on Saturday with prelims at 10:00 a.m. Saturday's finals start at 5:00 p.m.
