Thunder wrestling competes at the North Central Invitational

Naperville, Ill – The Wheaton wrestling team returned to action on Saturday at the North Central Invitational. Wheaton placed 14th in the 17-team field. FULL TEAM STANDINGS

Freshman Caleb Cox lost his first round match and then in the consolation bracket he won by fall at the 3:44 mark of the matchup. In his next matchup he defeated teammate Cael Palmer in a 14-1 major decision. Cox continued to advance with a fall at the 4:49 mark of his match against Castelton's Justyce Mercado. Cox bowed out of the tournament in losing a 9-4 decision against Wabash's Andrew Ross. Palmer earned a win in the first round as he won by fall at 157-pounds in his opening match of the day with a fall against Eureka's Dalarian Rose at the 4:55 mark of their match.

Sean King earned a win in the consolation bracket at 184-pounds as he earned an 8-5 decision over Kyle Sorenson of Concordia (Wis.). Joseph Kruse won by fall at the 4:53 mark of his consolation bracket match against North Central's Alex Diaz.

Wheaton returns to action next Saturday in a trio of matches in King Arena. The Thunder host Illinois Wesleyan next Saturday at 2:00 p.m., followed by a match at 3:30 p.m. against Millikin and a contest at 5:00 p.m. against MSOE.
