Thunder wrestling opens the 2025-26 home schedule with a dual match against Elmhurst

Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton wrestling team hosted Elmhurst University on Thursday night for a CCIW dual match. The Bluejays defeated the Thunder, 39-9 inside King Arena.

Wheaton picked up two wins tonight. Graduate student Jacob Kraker had Wheaton's most dramatic win of the evening at 197-pounds as he won by fall against Elmhurst's Connor Kelly with just 21-seconds left in the match. Kelly led 6-2 after the first period and he held a 9-7 lead at the end of the second period. Kraker recorded two four-point near falls to take the lead and he earned the fall at the 6:39 mark of the match.

Wheaton's other victory tonight went to junior Taggert Kazmierczak who won a 15-8 decision against Elmhurst's Nick Asllani at 165 pounds.

Wheaton returns to action on Tuesday as the Thunder host North Central College in another CCIW dual match.
