Mequon, Wis. – The Wheaton wrestling team competed and the CUW Invite on Saturday on the Campus of Concordia University (Wis.). No team scores were kept at the open event.
A pair of Thunder wrestlers earned two wins on Saturday at the CUW Invite.
Cale Coppess won two matches for the Thunder at 149-pounds and freshman
Caleb Cox won two matches at 157-pounds.
Coppess won his opening match at 149-pounds against in a 21-1 technical fall (7:00) against Reese Elliott of the host Falcons of CUW. Coppess dropped a 17-0 technical fall (6:23) against Benjamin Kaus of CUW. Coppess then won a 6-0 decision against North Central's Alex Solorio. North Central's Tyler Starr earned a fall at the 3:09 mark of his match against Coppess.
Cox lost his opening match at 157-pounds in a 13-5 major decision against Eli Rabideau of Wartburg. Cox responded with an 8-5 decision against Ben Messier of MSOE. Cox earned his second-consecutive win as he won a 5-1 decision against teammate
Cael Palmer. Cox bowed out of the tournament in losing a 16-6 major decision against Zaren Anderson.
The Thunder wrestling program is off until December 13 as Wheaton competes at the North Central Invitational next month.
