Wheaton College recently announced its Faithfully Forward campaign, a $275 million effort, in September during Wheaton’s Homecoming activities. More than $235 million in gifts and commitments toward the campaign have been received to date. There are three major components of the campaign: equipping students with scholarshipselevating the campus experience, and expanding Wheaton’s missional leadership

A key component of the initiative to elevate the campus experience is the expansion of the Thunder athletics facilities. The campaign goal for this project is $23 million, and it will include new athletic training and sports medicine facilities, a new weight room for varsity student-athletes, as well as new and updated locker rooms for varsity teams.

The Board of Trustees recently approved the construction of the athletics project to begin in the summer of 2026, with expected completion in 2027.

“This is the most ambitious fundraising campaign in Wheaton’s history, and I am excited that the athletics facilities are a key component. We are incredibly grateful for the donors who have already given to this project, and we anticipate that many of our former student-athletes will be eager to contribute to the effort.”

“This is a significant moment in the history of Wheaton Athletics. These improvements will allow Thunder Athletics to continue our long-standing tradition of excellence while opening recreational space for the rest of the campus. This project will also improve our ability to attract recruits while enhancing the overall experience of our enrolled student-athletes. Recruitment is getting more competitive, and facilities matter.”
