Milwaukee, Wis. – The Wheaton volleyball team (5-1) concluded its participation in the Wisconsin Lutheran Quad on Saturday with a pair of wins. The Thunder opened Saturday's action with a 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-11, 25-19) win against the host Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran. Wheaton defeated Monmouth College 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16) to finish up the quad with a 2-1 record in Milwaukee.
Caroline Capps was Wheaton's kill leader in the victory against Wisconsin Lutheran. Capps had 16 kills, with just one error on 27 attempts as she posted a stellar .556 attack percentage.
Emerson Traweek tallied 12 kills to help the Thunder against the Warriors. Freshman
Katherine Adkison had eight kills, with six kills for
Ashton Major. Setter
Lacey Higgins had a team-high 31 assists in the victory.
Grace Autry led Wheaton with 24 digs, and Adkison recorded 12 digs.
Sydney Overweg had five total blocks, while Major added four blocks.
In the victory against Monmouth, Capps again led the Thunder with 12 kills. Akdison had another strong outing with 11 kills in posting a .318 attack percentage.
Paris Griffin tallied six kills and Overweg added five. Higgins distributed 22 assists and
Paige Syswerda added 12. Major had a team-high three service aces and collected four total blocks. Autry and Adkison each had 12 digs.
The Thunder return to campus on Wednesday to host their first home contest of the 2024 season. Wheaton hosts second-ranked Hope College at 6:00 p.m. in King Arena.
