Ben Bonga has been named a CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in football, on the offensive side of the ball. Bonga helped lead Wheaton to a 22-10 victory at Carroll on Saturday.
Bonga collected 10 catches in the victory in Waukesha, Wisconsin last Saturday. His career-high 174 receiving yards is the most by a CCIW pass catcher this season. Five of his receptions went for longer than 10 yards and five of his catches also gave the Thunder a first down to extend a Wheaton offensive drive.
Bonga has 21 receptions in three games this season, a mark that is tied for second in the CCIW. His 324 receiving yards ranks third in the conference his 51-yard reception last Saturday at Carroll is the second-longest reception in the league this season.
Bonga and the 18th-ranked Thunder host top-ranked North Central this Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at McCully Stadium in the annual "Battle for the Little Brass Bell".
