Chicago's two goals occurred in the second half, following a scoreless tie in the first half of the match. UChicago's Kaitlyn Gomez scored the first goal of the match in the 46th minute when she put the ball in the upper right corner of the net, off an Indira Naylor assist. Chicago's Anna Thomann scored in the 72nd minute off of a Lucy Harrison-Caldwell assist to account for the 2-0 final score.
Netz was stellar in Wheaton's goal tonight as she registered a Wheaton single-match record 21 saves. Netz recorded 12 saves in the first half and made nine more stops in the second half.
Chicago had 42 shots in the match, with 24 shots on goal. The Maroons had 10 corner kicks in the contest.
Wheaton remains home for its next contest as the Thunder host DePauw University on Saturday. The contest between the Thunder and the Tigers starts at noon on Saturday at Joe Bean Stadium.
