Waukesha, Wis. – The Wheaton Thunder men's tennis team bowed out of the 2024 CCIW Men's Tennis Championship on Friday with a 5-0 loss to top seed North Central College (21-3). Wheaton concludes the 2024 campaign with a 15-7 overall record.
The Cardinals won all three doubles matches this afternoon to start with a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals' No. 1 doubles team of Wyatt Crowell and Guillermo Gonzalez defeated the Thunder tandem of
Jack Booker and
Cody Ching, 8-4. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Jacob Williams and
Joey Geisz lost 8-3. North Central's No. 3 doubles pair of Daniel Estanislao and Rafael Lessa picked up an 8-4 victory against the Thunder tandem of
Tim Steiner and
Andrew Jang.
North Central's Justin Penados defeated Geisz at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-3. Lessa was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 5 singles against Ching.
