Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon in a match that was moved indoors to Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park due to unseasonably cold weather. The Blugolds defeated the Thunder 5-4 in the tightly contested match.
Wheaton and UW-Eau Claire split the singles matches with each program winning three singles contests.
Alexandra Wachs defeated Morgan Dekan of UWEC 6-0, 6-4 in their matchup at No. 3 singles.
Delaney Canning rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles against Liv Herzog of the Blugolds.
Tatum Thurstone was a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 6 singles against Tea Armstrong of UWEC.
Wheaton's lone doubles victory went to the team of
Carly O'Leary and
Tatum Thurstone at No. 3 doubles. O'Leary and Thurstone defeated the UWEC team of Herzog and Armstrong 8-6 in the match.
Wheaton competes in the 2024 CCIW Women's Tennis Championships next weekend in Bloomington, Illinois.
