Carol Stream, Ill. – The Thunder baseball team hosted Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday night for a CCIW matchup against the Titans. The Titans topped the Thunder 9-1 in the midweek matchup.
Illinois Wesleyan scored nine runs, on 12 hits, with one error and Wheaton had one run, one nine hits, with one error. Junior
JD Van Hook started the game on the mound for the Thunder as he pitched 4-2/3 innings. Van Hook allowed six runs, on five hits, striking out three.
John McCraith pitched 3-1/3 innings of relief as he allowed one run, on four hits, with one strikeout.
Nathan Hedlund worked one inning of relief, allowing two runs, on three hits.
Harrison Stanton was 2-for-4 with a double, and one RBI.
Jacob Snyder was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.

Luke Hamm each hit a single for the hosts.
Illinois Wesleyan scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Titans added a run in the top of the third to increase the lead to 3-0.
The guests scored three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, and another run in the sixth to extend their lead to 7-0.
Kyle Wu led of the Thunder bottom of the seventh inning with a single. The senior scored four batters later when Stanton was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for a 7-1 IWU lead. Illinois Wesleyan scored two additional runs in the top of the ninth inning to account for the 9-1 final score.
Wheaton is scheduled to play at IIT tomorrow afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. contest against the Scarlet Hawks. Wheaton faces Elmhurst this weekend in a three-game series against the Bluejays. The two teams play at Elmhurst's
Butterfield Park on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The series moves to Lee Pfund Stadium on Saturday for a twinbill slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
