Decatur, Ill – The Wheaton softball team remained on the road Saturday for CCIW doubleheader at Millikin (16-10, 4-2 CCIW). The Big Blue swept the Thunder (12-11, 1-2 CCIW) as the hosts won the first game 6-3 and Millikin topped the Thunder 12-1 in five innings in the nightcap.
The Big Blue won the first game 6-3 as the hosts scored six runs, on nine hits, with zero errors. Wheaton tallied three runs, on five hits, with two errors. Freshman starting pitcher
Shylah Dozeman tossed two innings in the circle, allowing five runs, on five hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Senior
Alese Antonello pitched four innings of one-run relief as she scattered four hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Abby Whitehead was 2-for-3 with a double as she drove in a run.
Madison Forberg and
Olivia Nahorniak each collected a double, while
Sydney Broderick hit a single.
Millikin scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to gain the early 5-0 lead. Broderick led off the top of the fourth inning with a single, followed by a double for Nahorniak that sent Broderick to third base. Broderick scored on a ground out by Andrews. Whitehead drove in Nahorniak with an RBI-single that cut the hosts' lead to 5-2.
Wheaton trimmed the Millikin lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth inning as Forberg hit a RBI-double that drove in
Isabel Hillyer. Millikin scored an insurance run on the bottom of the sixth inning to account for the 6-3 final score.
Millikin won the second game 12-1 as the hosts scored 12 runs, on 14 hits, with no errors, and the Thunder tallied one run, on six hits, with zero errors. Forberg, Antonello, Nahorniak, Whitehead,
Elizabeth Meyer and Livi Figuerora each hit singles to account for Wheaton's six hits in the game.
Millikin tallied four runs in the first inning and added five runs in the top of the second. The Big Blue had three runs in the third inning. Wheaton tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a RBI-double by Nahorniak.
Wheaton returns to Salt Creek Park in Elmhurst on Monday to resume the second game of a doubleheader against the Blue Jays. The game was suspended due to darkness after eight innings last week. Monday's resumption begins at 5:30 p.m. Wheaton hosts Carroll on Tuesday for a CCIW doubleheader that begins at 3:00 p.m.
