Aurora, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball team took the short trip to Aurora on Saturday evening for a non-conference match against the Aurora University Spartans. Aurora defeated the Thunder 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) in tonight's contest.
Caroline Capps led Wheaton in kills for the sixth-consecutive match as she tallied 11 kills tonight against the Spartans.
Emerson Traweek added eight kills, with
Ashton Major tallying seven.
Sydney Overweg recorded four kills, while
Jordan Benford,
Bree Gilbert, and
Katherine Adkison each had three.
Setter
Lacey Higgins had a match-high 31 assists in tonight's match. Libero
Grace Autry tallied 15 digs, while Higgins added 10.
The Thunder return home for the first time in five matches on Wednesday night with a CCIW contest against Carroll at 7:00 p.m. in King Arena. Wednesday's contest is the first of three-consecutive home conference matches in the span of a week for the Thunder. The string will continue next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. as Wheaton hosts Elmhurst in King Arena for "Senior Day". The homestand will conclude Wednesday, October 30 against Carthage in the CCIW finale.
