Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton wrestling served as the host of the 2024 CCIW Duals event on Saturday. King Arena was the site of 12 dual matches throughout the day for the conference event. 

The Thunder wrestling team particpated in two dual matches in today's event. In the day's first session, Augustana defeated Wheaton 29-18. Lakeland College topped Wheaton 27-21 in the final dual match of the day.

Brendan Johnston won both of his matches for Wheaton today. Johnston defeated Augustana 125-pounder, Khadyn Jacobs in a 15-3 major decision to open the day for the Thunder. In the match against Lakeland, Johnston faced J.J. Littles at 133-pounds and won by a fall in just 28-seconds.

Jackson Punzel also won a pair of matches in the 197-pound weight class for the Thunder today. He won an 18-1 technical fall (3:00) against Augustana's Anthony Joyner, and earned a fall in 1:20 against Lakeland's Bryan Romero.

Wheaton hosts the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational next weekend in King Arena. Wrestling starts on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Day two starts at 11:00 a.m. next Saturday.
