The Thunder women's basketball program announces its newcomers for the 2023-24 season

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College head women's basketball coach Kent Madsen has announced the addition of four freshmen that have submitted their deposit to attend Wheaton College, with the intent to play for the Thunder women's basketball team beginning with the 2023-24 season. Madsen says of the group, "We are excited to welcome our four incoming freshmen, who span the nation representing California, Illinois, Minnesota and Louisiana.  These four outstanding student-athletes are a wonderful addition.  We can't wait to get them on campus to join our returning players and start another basketball season. "
 
The four newcomers for 2023-24 are:
 
Lily Caddow (Castaic, Calif./Trinity Classical Academy) is a 5'9" guard joining the Thunder after playing on the Trinity Classical Academy varsity team for four years and was a three-year captain.  Caddow helped lead the Knights to four-consecutive Heritage League Championships.  Excelling in the postseason, Caddow helped her team get to the 3A semifinals her junior year, but the biggest accomplishment was winning the 5A state title her sophomore year which was the first time in school history.  A few of her individual awards were as a 4-time All Heritage League First Team, All CIF-SS First Team her sophomore year, and All CIF-SS Second Team her junior year.  Caddow departs Trinity Classical Academy having scored over 1,000 points in her career.  One award that she was recognized by the whole school was being named the Women's Athlete of the Year both her Sophomore and Junior year.  Caddow was also busy during her high school career being a part of many clubs, winning one and being a finalist for multiple oratory contests, and being a four-year varsity volleyball player.  
 
Jenna Hunter (Peotone, Ill./Peotone High School) is a 5'10" power forward joining the Thunder after leading her team to a 31-2 record her senior year with a Sweet 16 finish.  Hunter racked up the awards this year with All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State honors. Over the past two seasons, Hunter helped her team achieve 57 wins which set a new Peotone High School record. She finished her career with an astonishing field goal percentage of 63% and 923 career points, ninth all-time in school history.  She is fourth all-time at the schoo for for points in a season with 473.  Hunter not only excelled in basketball, but was also a captain, All-Conference, All-Area, and All-Sectional selection as a goalie in soccer.  A dedicated student-athlete, Hunter was on the high honor roll and made the All-Academic list four times. She was an active member of many clubs at Peotone which included being the head spirit leader at school functions.
 
Isabelle (Belle) Iten (Eagan, Minn./Eagan High School) is a 5'10" power forward who capped her high school career as a Section Champion. Iten was an integral part of her team her senior season winning the sharpshooter award and the best three-point percentage award with a 36% effort from three-point range.  She was also honored with an All-Conference honorable mention award for the last two seasons. A four-year varsity letterwinner, Iten won many awards along the way, which included the Wildcat Award for the past two seasons. The Wildcat Award is given to a player that has the best leadership, team spirit, and positive attitude. Iten was involved in many activities at Eagan High School which included the world language National Honors Society, and she received the Gold Bilingual seal in Spanish. Academically, Iten was awarded the MSHSL academic award her senior year and was a National Honors Society officer.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. 
 
Petra Trumbach (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin High School) is a 5'8" guard who is graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School where she scored over 1,000 points in her career. Averaging 15 points a game, Trumbach was an All-District selection three times, All-District honorable mention selection one time, and an All-District MVP her senior year. During her high school career, she received two state awards, LSWA All-State honorable mention, and LGR All-State honorable mention.  A four-year varsity starter, Trumbach led her team to a District Championship her senior year and state semifinal her junior year.  Trumbach was also recognized for her defensive ability by being awarded Team Defensive MVP two times.  Academically, Trumbach achieved the honor roll for all four years and was an active member of many clubs which included being the Editor in Chief of the yearbook.
