Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team hosted Carthage (14-5, 5-1 CCIW) on Wednesday afternoon. Today's matchup was moved indoors to Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park due to rain in the forecast for the early evening hours. The Firebirds won the match 8-1.
Joey Giesz was a winner for the Thunder today at No. 5 singles. He defeated Carthage's Luca Okino 6-4, 6-1 to give Wheaton its lone point against the Firebirds
Wheaton is now 11-8 overall and concludes the CCIW regular season schedule 4-3. The Thunder concluded the regular season schedule on Saturday at home against UW-Eau Claire as Wheaton honors its seniors for "Senior Day". Saturday's match is slated to begin at noon. Wheaton will host the CCIW Men's Tennis Championships next week, beginning on Thursday, April 27.
