Men's Tennis cruises past Elmhurst in 9-0 rout

Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder men's tennis team earned its fourth shutout home win of the season on Monday afternoon when it registered a comfortable 9-0 victory over the visiting Elmhurst Bluejays. Wheaton improves to 10-7 on the year and regains its winning record in CCIW competition as a result of today's scoreline.

A reshuffled lineup saw Wheaton get back in the win column in conference action following last week's narrow loss to Millikin. Jacob Williams and Joey Geisz moved up to the #1 doubles line, but their successful combination play continued anyway, as the junior-sophomore combo picked up an 8-2 win. David Houlihan and Graham Shelton teamed up at #2 doubles to earn the Thunder a point via an easy 8-1 victory.

Jack Booker claimed the win at #1 singles by way of a 6-3, 6-1 scoreline, while Tim Steiner notched another positive result in the #2 matchup at 6-2, 6-0. Jack Wenzel was flawless in his #3 singles performance, earning a double-bagel win over his Bluejays counterpart. Michael Walmer replicated the feat at #5 singles, picking up the second win of his season in doing so. Corin Tang took the first frame of his #4 singles match by a score of 6-2 before blanking his Elmhurst opponent in the second set to secure the win.

The Thunder will look to stay above .500 in CCIW play when they head to Rock Island on Saturday to take on Augustana.
