Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team hosted Illinois Wesleyan (8-7, 0-3 CCIW) on Saturday morning for a conference matchup on the indoor courts at Center Court Athletic Club. Wheaton topped the Titans 8-1. Wheaton improves to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in CCIW play with today's conference victory.
The Thunder won all three matches in doubles play on Saturday.
Jack Booker and
Cody Ching teamed for an 8-7 victory at No. 1 doubles against Ian Turnbull and Carter Burk. The Thunder tandem of
Joey Geisz and
Jacob Williams teamed for an 8-1 win against the IWU team of Ryan McCoy and Sebastian Rasquin at No. 2 doubles. The Wheaton No. 3 doubles team of
Jack Wenzel and
Tim Steiner earnred an 8-2 victory against Ben Vigneri and Zeke Cross.
Steiner earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles against McCoy, while Williams picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles against Burk. Wenzel was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 victor at No. 4 singles against Vigneri. Giesz picked up a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles against Evan Turnbull, while
Corin Tang was a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 winner at No. 6 singles for the hosts against Cross.
Wheaton remains in CCIW action for its next match as the Thunder host Elmhurst at 4:00 p.m.
