Women's track places fifth at the Pat Heenan Invitational in Naperville

Naperville, Ill. - The Thunder track and field teams participated in North Central College's "Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday. The Thunder women's team finished fifth in the 12-team field.

University of Chicago placed first in the women's team standings with 208 points. Lewis University scored 103.5 points in second place, the host Cardinals of North Central scored 96 points in third place, Olivet Nazarene tallied 48.5 points in fourth place, Wheaton finished fifth with 28 points, Aurora scored 20 points in sixth place, Harper College was seventh with 19 points, College of DuPage finished eighth with 18 points, Wartburg scored 17 points to finished ninth, Benedictine was 10th with 10 points, Joliet Junior College was 11th with nine points and North Park was 12th with seven points.

A pair of Wheaton seniors placed in the top-five in the of the women's 60-meter hurdles. Amy Keane placed fourth in the event with a time of 9.27-seconds, followed by Abi Gum in fifth place with a time of 9.75-seconds.. Gum also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with an effort of 26.33-seconds.

Chloe Veth finished fifth in the women's 800-meter run in 2:23.93. Laura Prothero ran the one-mile run in 5:31.16 to place eighth.

Natalie Conrad was seventh in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:26.74. Teammate Elizabeth LaBrin ran the 3,000-meters in 11:31.45. Susannah Bennett finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run with an effort of 17:49.33.

The Thunder track and field teams return to North Central next Friday to participate in the F. Lee Slick Invitational.
