Kenosha, Wis. – The Thunder wrestling team competed in a triangular at Carthage College on Thursday evening. Wheaton faced MSOE in the opening match of the evening as the Raiders earned a 24-20 victory against Wheaton. The Thunder faced the Firebirds of Carthage in the second match with the Firebirds earning a 30-18 victory.
Wheaton earned four wins in its opening match of the evening, the 24-20 loss to MSOE.
Brendan Johnston opened the evening with a win by fall at the 1:43 mark of his match against Brandon Hansen at 125-pounds.
Anthony Zamora won a 9-1 major decision against Alex Morales in their matchup at 133-pounds.
Jacob Kraker won a convincing 15-0 technical fall against MSOE's Colin Duren at 174-pounds.
Jackson Punzel defeated Jake Schmitt in a 16-0 technical fall (3:22) in the contest at 197-pounds.
The Thunder picked up four victories in the 30-18 loss to Carthage. Johnston defeated Carthage's Edwin Estrada-Jaimes in a 16-4 major decision in their match at 125-pounds. Zamora won a 15-0 technical fall against Carthage's Loren Semler in the matchup at 133-pounds.
Cale Coppess earned a 12-0 major decision against River Rogers in the match at 149-pounds. Punzel picked up a 17-2 technical fall (2:23) in a win against Carter Vincent at 197-pounds.
The Thunder will compete in another conference dual match on Saturday. Wheaton entertains Millikin at 1:00 p.m. in King Arena.
