Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton wrestling team opened the home portion of its 2023-24 schedule on Thursday night with a CCIW dual match against seventh-ranked North Central College. The Cardinals topped the Thunder 47-6 in the dual inside King Arena.

Jackson Punzel earned Wheaton's lone victory of the evening. Punzel defeated North Central's David Pirozhnik in their match at 197-pounds. The Thunder senior was leading 3-0 early in the first period when he got Pirozhnik on his back and earned the fall just 1:15 into their match as Punzel earned his first win of the season.

Wheaton is off until November 18 when the Thunder travel to Mequon, Wisconsin to participate at the 2023 Concordia University (Wis.) Open.
