Elmhurst, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team played its final CCIW match of the 2023 season on Friday. Today's CCIW contest was the opening match of this weekend's Elmhurst University Invitational. The Bluejays defeated the Thunder 3-0 (26-24, 25-12, 25-17).
Emerson Traweek led Wheaton with eight kills on Friday afternoon in the loss to the Bluejays, adding six digs. Junior
Caroline Capps tallied six kills, with
Ashton Major adding five. Major had a team-high .375 attack percentage in the match with five kills and two errors on just eight attempts.
Paige Syswerda had 23 assists and
Annika Evenson tallied a team-high 11 digs for Wheaton.
Jordan Benford tallied eight digs, with six apiece for
Grace Autry and
Paige Syswerda.Â
Wheaton returns to R.A. Faganel Hall on Saturday for two more matches in this weekend's tournament. The Thunder will face UW-LaCrosse tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. and the Thunder will close out their participation against No. 17 UW-Stevens Point at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
