Waukesha, Wis. – The Wheaton women's soccer team traveled to Carroll University (8-4-2, 3-0-2 CCIW) on Wednesday night for a CCIW matchup against the Pioneers. Both teams scored in the first half tonight and played to a 1-1 tie. Tonight's draw gives the Thunder a 3-6-4 record this season, with a 2-1-1 mark in CCIW play.

The Pioneers' offense generated several shots early in the match with five shots in the first 20 minutes, including four shots on goal with four saves by Wheaton goalkeeper
Myah Schoolman in that span. Carroll's eighth shot of the half went into the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the 30:40 mark of the match. The Carroll goal was off the foot of Grace Tumilty and was assisted by Elli Pease. The next shot attempt of the match was a terrific shot by Thunder freshman
Grace Crowder at the 33:20 mark of the match that made it into the goal. The goal by Crowder, her second of the season, was Wheaton's first shot attempt of the match off of a well-played assist from
Mia Blair.
The score remained 1-1 for the rest of the first half as the two teams were tied at the halftime intermission. Carroll held a 10-2 shot advantage in the first half, including a 7-1 edge in shots on goal. Carroll had three corner kicks in the opening half, while Wheaton had none.
The teams played a scoreless second half. Carroll attempted eight shots in the second half, including three shots on goal. Wheaton had two shots in the final half, including one shot on frame. Neither team had a corner kick in the second half.
Schoolman played well in Wheaton's net, making nine saves with just one goal allowed in 90 minutes of work. Carroll goalkeeper Caitlin Fitzsimmons allowed one goal and made one save on the night.
Carroll had an 18-4 advantage in shots tonight, including a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. The Pioneer had three corner kicks in the match, and Wheaton had zero corner kick attempts.
The Thunder women's soccer team returns to Wisconsin for its next conference match. Wheaton will face Carthage in Kenosha on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's match against the Firebirds is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
