Thunder volleyball spilts a pair in opening night of Albion/Olivet Tournament

GAME STATS 1 | GAME STATS 2 Albion, Mich. - The Thunder volleyball team traveled to Michigan this weekend for three matches at the Albion/Olivet Invitational. Wheaton played its first two matches at Albion College on Friday. The Thunder won their opener with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21) victory against Wilmington College. Wheaton faced No. 22 Albion in the final match of the evening. The Britons topped the Thunder 25-14, 25-20, 25-17.

Wheaton closes out the tournament on Saturday on the campus of Olivet College with a match at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) against the host Comets of Olivet.

Wheaton topped Wilmington 3-0 in the opener for the Thunder. Caroline Capps led the Thunder against the Quakers with 15 kills, while Benford added 10 kills.Capps posted an attack percentage of .652 and Benford had a /444 attack percentage. Emerson Traweek tallied six kills and Naomi Bunker had five. Setter Davis Whitehead had 40 assists as she and Tabitha Clark each had a team-high three service aces.  Grace Autry led Wheaton with 15 digs and Capps had 11.

Traweek led Wheaton with 10 kills in a 3-0 loss against Albion. Benford had six kills while Faith Bailey and Caroline Capps each had four kills. Davis Whitehead had 20 assists. Benford led the Thunder with six digs in the match.
