Alessandro D'Argento netted his third goal of the season to help Wheaton secure a draw
GAME STATS Abilene, Texas -- In the first of their two matches in Abilene this weekend, the Wheaton men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against McMurry University on Friday night. After a scoreless first half,
Alessandro D'Argento broke the deadlock on 76 minutes from the penalty spot before the home side equalized within a minute of falling behind. Wheaton's record moves to 2-3-1 on the year as a result of Friday's draw, and the team will look to earn their first road win of the season when they take the field again tomorrow.
D'Argento's goal was his third of the season so far, which is a team-high for Wheaton. Despite not being able to close out the win in this evening's contest, the Thunder will gain confidence from avoiding defeat against unfamiliar opposition amidst a busy travel schedule.
There is very little time for the Thunder to rest and reflect on tonight's result as they are set to take the pitch again at 7:30 PM on Saturday. Hardin-Simmons University is their next opponent, and the match will be Wheaton's last of their four-game road stretch.
