Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton running back Giovanni Weeks has been named to the 2022 D3football.com Preseason All-America Team as announced by the website on Monday. Wheaton has produced 35 total D3football.com Preseason All-America selections in the 23 years that the website has produced preseason All-America squads. Weeks is the first Wheaton running back among those 35 picks.

Weeks' selection as a Second Team Preseason All-American marks the 11th-consecutive season that the Thunder football program has produced at least one Preseason All-America selection on the website's list. Wheaton has produced at least one preseason All-American in 16 of the 23 seasons that the website has produced its list of the top Division III players ahead of each season.   

Weeks led Wheaton with a school-record 1,462 rushing yards in 2021. His average of 8.2 yards per carry ranked second in Division III. He established a new school record with 20 rushing touchdowns, and he had 21 total touchdowns. He averaged 178.2 all-purpose yards per game to rank fourth in Division III last season, and he was fifth in Division III in total rushing yards.

Weeks was named a Third Team D3football.com All-American at the conclusion of the 2021 season. He also earned recognition as First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
