Ben Weaver, Harrison Stanton and Brendan Dyer named to the D3baseball.com All Region 8 Baseball Team

Wheaton, Ill. - Three members of the Wheaton Thunder baseball team have been named to the 2022 D3baseball.com All Region 8 Team. Ben Weaver, a repeat selection, is joined this year by teammates Harrison Stanton and Brendan Dyer.

Weaver is a first team selection as an outfielder this year after earning third team All-Region from D3baseball.com in 2021. Weaver was a First Team All-CCIW in centerfield pick this spring. The junior led the Thunder in batting average with a mark of .388 (57-for-147). Additionally he led the Thunder in hits (57), doubles (16), triples (7), RBI (38), and slugging percentage (.694). Weaver's seven triples this season broke his own school single-season record of six that he set in 2021, as he ranked fifth in Division III in triples per game. His 16 doubles is fourth on the program's all-time list. He registered 102 total bases this spring, a mark that is fifth on Wheaton's single-season list and his .694 slugging percentage is seventh. Weaver also has established a new school career record for triples with 13, while his .372 (126-for-339) career batting average is four in program history, and his .587 career slugging percentage is also fourth.

Stanton is a Second Team All-Region selection by D3baseball.com at third base in a 2022 campaign that saw him earn First Team All-CCIW recognition. He was third on the Thunder roster with a .314 (48-for-153) batting average this season, and was second on the squad with a .562 slugging percentage. His 48 hits this year was second on the team, as was his six triples, and 36 runs scored. Stanton ranked second in the CCIW in triples as his six three-baggers this season is second on Wheaton's single-season list.

Dyer is a Third Team All-Region pick in a 2022 season that saw him become the third Wheaton hurler to be named the CCIW Pitcher of the Year. Dyer posted a 5-0 record in CCIW play this year, tying for the conference lead with five victories in league action. His 2.42 ERA against league foes was second among CCIW pitchers with four or more starts in league play. Dyer earned road CCIW wins this season in starts at Millikin, Illinois Wesleyan and North Park. He won CCIW contests at Lee Pfund Stadium against Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana. Overall this season, Dyer posted a 6-0 record, with a 4.91 ERA in 12 appearances, including seven starts in 44 innings of work. Dyer held opponents to a .259 batting average this spring and struck out 32.
