Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2022 All-CCIW Baseball Team on Wednesday morning. Five members of the Wheaton baseball team earned All-Conference recognition:
Brendan Dyer,
Ben Weaver,
Harrison Stanton (PICTURED LEFT),
Kyle Wu and
Mason Diel. Additionally, Dyer and head coach
Matt Husted won special awards from the conference.
Husted was recognized by his peers as the 2022 CCIW Coach of the Year. This marks the second time that Husted has received the honor, also winning the award in 2015. He is the first Wheaton baseball coach two earn the award twice and joins Bobby Elder (2008) and Gary Taylor (1980) as the program's only head coaches to win the award since its creation in 1980. Husted guided Wheaton to an 11-7 record in CCIW play this year and a second-place finish in the CCIW standings. The tie for second place is Wheaton's highest finish at the end of the CCIW regular season since the 2015 season. Husted has recorded 184 wins in 10 seasons as Wheaton's head coach, the second-highest win total in program history.

Dyer (PICTURED RIGHT) was honored as the 2022 CCIW Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-CCIW recognition as a pitcher. He is the third Wheaton hurler to earn the honor since its creation in 2006, joining Trey Martin (2014) and Michael McCraith (2017). Dyer posted a 5-0 record in CCIW play this year, tying for the conference lead with five victories in league action. His 2.42 ERA against league foes is second among CCIW pitchers with four or more starts in league play. Dyer earned road CCIW wins this season in starts at Millikin, Illinois Wesleyan and North Park. He CCIW contests at Lee Pfund Stadium against Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana. Overall this season, Dyer is 6-0 I 40 innings of work.
Sophomore
Harrison Stanton is a First Team All-CCIW honoree this spring. The sophomore hit .351 (26-of-74) in CCIW play this spring, with a league-leading four triples. He belted a .608 slugging percentage, with three home runs and a pair of doubles. Stanton scored 17 runs in league play, with 15 RBI. Overall, in 36 games this year Stanton has a .329 (47-of-143) batting average, scoring 35 runs, with 31 RBI. He has five homers, 11 doubles and six triples, posting a .594 slugging percentage.

Weaver (PICTURED LEFT), a junior, is a First Team All-CCIW pick this year as an outfielder after earning Second Team honors in 2021. He led the Thunder with a .364 (28-of-77) batting average in conference play. Against league opponents he scored 21 runs, with 18 RBI, belting nine doubles, two home runs and one triple. Weaver had a .584 slugging percentage in conference play, with a .417 on-base percentage. Overall, Weaver has a .399 (55-of-138) batting average, .717 slugging percentage and .465 on-base percentage with seven stolen bases in 34 games this year. Weaver set a Wheaton single-season record with seven triples this year, in addition to his five home runs and 15 doubles. He has scored 36 runs with 37 RBI in 2022.

Sophomore second baseman
Kyle Wu (PICTURED RIGHT) is a Second Team honoree. In conference games, Wu hit for a .344 (22-of-64) batting average with five doubles and two triples. He scored 18 runs with 16 RBI in league play, with a .416 on-base percentage. Overall, in 30 game this season Wu has a .327 (35-of-107) batting average, with nine doubles, two home runs and one triple.

Freshman
Mason Diel (PICTURED LEFT) is a Second Team All-CCIW pick at designated hitter. Diel hit .309 (17-of-55) in 17 CCIW games this year. His 21 RBI in conference play ranks fourth in the league this season and he scored 12 runs. Against conference foes, Diel hit two home runs, with three doubles and a triple as he posted a .509 slugging percentage. Overall, Diel hit .295 (31-of-105) in 34 contests this season. He has three home runs, with five doubles and a triple to his credit.
