Lake Bluff, Illinois - The Wheaton men's tennis team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, following an eight-day hiatus from competition. The Thunder defeated the Foresters 7-2 in an indoors matchup at Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
Wheaton won all three doubles contests against Lake Forest today. The No. 2 doubles team of
Jack Wenzel and
Tim Steiner were the first to close out their LFC opponent with an 8-1 victory against Jacob Tilton and Eduardo Manuitt. Wheaton's next doubles win was an 8-6 victory for
Cody Ching and
David Houlihan against Zach Cho and Kyle Lassen at No. 3 doubles.
Jacob Williams and
Joey Geisz of Wheaton were 8-7 victors against Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Daniel Tulchinskiy at No. 1 doubles.
Steiner was the first Wheaton singles player to earn a victory as he defeated Tilton 6-1, 6-0 in their match at No. 4 singles. Wenzel was the next Thunder winner as he closed out a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles against Zach Cho. Geisz gave Wheaton a 7-1 lead in the team score with a win at No. 5 singles. Geisz was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles against Manuitt. Williams was the victor in the final match of the contest as he earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Tulchinskiy in their match at No. 2 singles.
Wheaton improves to 7-4 on the season as the Thunder snap a two-match losing streak with today's road victory. Lake Forest is 6-7 on the 2021-22 campaign.
Wheaton returns to action on Monday in the conference opener at Elmhurst. The CCIW match between the Thunder and the Bluejays is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. on the Elmhurst campus.
