Tyson Cruickshank earns his second CCIW Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week award

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College senior Tyson Cruickshank has been named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in men's basketball, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. His selection this week marks second time he has earned the honor this season, also picking up the recognition on January, 10. Cruickshank's selection today marks the sixth time a Wheaton player has received the award in the 2021-22 season, with three different Thunder players earning the honor: Cruickshank on Jan 10 and Feb. 21; Nyameye Adom on Dec. 13, Dec. 20 and Jan. 31; and Cade Alioth on Nov. 29.

Cruickshank helped lead Wheaton to a pair of CCIW victories last week with wins at home against North Park and Millikin. He shot 57.1% (16-of-28) from the field, including 50% (6-of-12) behind the three-point arc. He also averaged 7.0 assists per game for the week,.

The guard from Colorado did a little bit of everything for Wheaton on Saturday in a convincing 88-63 victory against Millikin that allowed Wheaton to secure the No. 2 seed in the CCIW Tournament. Cruickshank scored a game-high 28 points against the Big Blue and he distributed a career-high nine assists. He shot 76.9% (10-of-13) from the field against Millikin, including 66.7% (4-of-6) from three-point range. He also contributed three rebounds, one steal and a blocked shot. In last Wednesday's 77-67 victory against North Park, Cruickshank scored 16 points with a pair of three pointers.He had a game-high five assists in the victory against the Vikings, and also collected three rebounds, with one blocked shot, and a steal.

Wheaton is the No. 2 seed in this week's CCIW Tournament and will play in a semifinal matchup on Friday night at Illinois Wesleyan's Shirk Center.
