GAME STATS Joliet, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team picked up its third-consecutive victory on Saturday in a matchup at NAIA foe St. Francis (Ill.). The Thunder defeated the Saints 7-0 tonight as Wheaton improves to 3-2 on the year.
The Thunder won two of the three doubles matchups against St. Francis. The No. 1 doubles team of
Jacob Williams and
Joey Geisz earned a 6-2 victory.
Tim Steiner and
Jack Wenzel teamed up for a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of
Cody Ching and
Graham Shelton lost their matchup 3-6.
The Thunder swept all six singles matches against the Saints. Ching picked up his first win of the season at No. 1 singles tonight with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Williams was a 6-4, 7-6 victor at No. 2 singles, while Wenzel earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Steiner was a 6-3, 6-2 victor in his match at No. 4 singles. Geisz earned a hard-fought 6-0, 2-6, 10-3 victory at No. 5 singles.
Michael Walmer picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.
Wheaton hosts Concordia (Wis.) next Saturday at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois. Next Saturday's match against the Falcons is slated to start at noon.
