Men's cross country concludes the season at the 2022 Division III Midwest Regional

Geneva, Ill. – The Wheaton cross country teams participated in the 2022 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on Saturday at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course. The Wheaton men's cross country team finished 10th in the 32-team field.
 
North Central finished first in the team standings with 41 points, Wartburg was second with 55 points, Loras was third with 112 points, UChicago was fourth with 113 points, and WashU scored 123 points in fifth place. Luther finished sixth with 196 points, Central scored 205 points in seventh place, Simpson was eighth with 251 points, Millikin finished ninth with 272 points, and Wheaton rounded out the top-10 with 327 points.
 
Wartburg's Christopher Collet posted a time of 25:04.9 on the 8K course to finish first in the region. North Central's Braden Nicholson was second with a time of 25:06.3 in second place and Simpson's Spencer Moon was third in 25:09.1.
 
Thunder sophomore Sam Elsen had the top performance for Wheaton as he ran the course in 26:06.2 to place 42nd in the 230-man field. Senior Ryan Cross posted a time of 26:36.6 in 59th place and junior Nathan Gibson was 64th in 26:46.8. Junior Sam Carlson was 81st in 27:12.0 and sophomore Luke Bothun ran the course in 85th place with a time of 27:15.6. Junior Jacob Fopma was 89th in 27:20.7 and junior Eric Gronbeck was 108th in 27:33.7.
