Bloomington, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team (10-15, 2-6 CCIW) traveled to Illinois Wesleyan (15-10, 3-4 CCIW) on Tuesday night in the final CCIW contest of the regular season for the Thunder. The Titans topped the Thunder 3-0 as the hosts won the first set 25-13. Illinois Wesleyan picked up a 25-22 victory in the second set and the hosts closed out the win with a 25-14 victory in the third set.
Caroline Capps led the Thunder with eight kills,
Emerson Traweek tallied five kills, while
Faith Bailey and
Naomi Bunker each had four.
Davis Whitehead recorded 11 assists and fellow setter
Lacey Higgins added nine assists. Libero
Allie High led the Thunder with 18 digs, and Capps added eight. Bunker had four total blocks in the match.
The Thunder close out the 2022 regular season schedule this weekend with three matches at the Sutphen Invitational at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Wheaton takes on Westminster (Mo.) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening. The Thunder face Nebraska Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, and Wheaton closes out the tournament at 1:00 p.m. with a matchup against Central College (Iowa).
