Thunder volleyball hosts No. 16 UW-Oshkosh and Edgewood in the Wheaton Tri-Match

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball hosted the Wheaton Tri Match on Tuesday night in King Arena. The Thunder entertained No. 16 UW-Oshkosh and Edgewood College in the Triangular.

The Titans of UW-Oshkosh rallied to defeat Wheaton 3-2 in the opening match of the night. The Thunder won the first set 25-20 and topped the Titans 25-22 in the second set. The Titans won the third set 25-12 and picked up a 25-17 win the fourth set. UWOK closed out the match with a 15-4 win in the decisive fifth set.

Caroline Capps continued her strong play as of late with a team-high 16 kills. Emerson Traweek added nine kills, Jordan Benford tallied eight and Naomi Bunker recorded six. Davis Whitehead distributed 25 assists and Lacey Higgins had 18. Allie High led the Thunder with 17 digs and Capps added 13. Whitehead and Higgins each had two service aces in the match.

Edgewood defeated the Thunder 3-1 in the final match of the night. The Eagles won the first set 25-14, and the Thunder won the second set 25-16. The Eagles won the third set 25-12. Edgewood rallied from a 23-17 deficit in the fourth set to win the set 25-23.

Capps and Traweek each had 11 kills in the Edgewood match to lead the Thunder. Benford had 10 kills with a .400 attack percentage in the match. Whithead led the Thunder with 23 assists, while High had a team-best 16 digs and Faith Bailey added three total blocks.
Wheaton returns to conference play on Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. match at Carroll University.
